Greetings Muses!
my involvement with the new web series “Girl Talk the Show” as a Producer (yeah it sounds all prestigious yet the work is so dirty!) has got me spinning but I wanted to keep each of you updated on the progress being made with our new collaborator and musical magician Roman (aka Glitchbox), read on for Roman’s latest thoughts regarding the new songs selection:
Hi Adrienne,
Good to hear from you!
I am happy for you that you are done with the shooting as you seem thrilled about it!
First of, let me tell you that I love Carnival Morning. Now, if you feel that The Better Part Of Me might be a more suitable song to start working, send me an mp3 and I will tell you my thoughts about it.
As far as Carnival Morning, there are different elements I like :
. the dynamic of the song is actually fluctuating and we could accentuate it even more
. you seem very confident playing and singing it which a huge plus
. both the chorus and verse section interact well with each other
About the arrangement, I would see a good use of drums and bass to rock out and fill out the bottom of the song. Also, I see where you want to go with the use of effects on your voice and I think we should dig in that direction without overwhelming the song too much but still…
I feel that the introduction would benefit from a string section accompanying the piano and accentuating the ghosty feel of the voice. As far as the work on the voice is concerned, we might go in a more Gothic aesthetic and layer various ooohs and aaahs to envelope the transitions, especially at the moments where you used some phasing effect on your vocals.
I think that it’s a good song and to make it great, we might want to use a more defined rhythm and more lush instrumentation. The song might be little long so we might want to cut some sections to make it go more to the point but we can see that later.
If you have anything to send me, please do. Just for you to know, I also love Post Modern orpheous so that would be great to start on one of these two songs to explore that theme while retaining the same kind of vibe and production.
Hope that all is well with you and I send you tons of good vibes!
Best,
Roman
